We are happy to say that cats usually adapt to the daily routine quickly, which gives them comfort and confidence. They are fed the diet specified by you so there is no change from what they have at home, which also helps to make their stay a happy and successful one.

You are welcome to supply the food of your choice, both dry and wet.  Alternatively we stock a branded dry food which is available to all cats twice daily.  Fresh water is available 24 hours per day.

If you cat has specific dietary requirements, we are happy to accommodate these needs but you must, obviously, supply all necessary foods.

Your cat will have time spent with them every day with to ensure a health check and plenty of attention. This additionally helps to ensure they enjoy a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Should your cat require daily medication to be administered during their stay with us, please ensure that this is clearly labelled with the Cat’s name and dosage to be given. Please be aware that there will be an additional charge of £1 per day per cat for the administration of medication.

For all pricing on cat pens, please go to Booking and Fees.

Cleaning and Health

All cats are assessed for signs of illness upon entry. If your cat is showing signs of any illness, please make this clear to us when you bring your cat. This is to ensure the safety and well-being of all the cats in our care.

Our cleaning regime is very strict to ensure the safety of your cats during their stay at NAO Catteries. All disinfectants used are safe for the cats, safe for the environment, remain active once applied and are fully approved by the regulatory bodies.

Fleas

It is essential that your cat’s flea and worming treatments are up to date before boarding. Please ensure you use reputable products provided by your vet. The over the counter treatments often do not work and do not provide adequate protection. We will check your cat for the presence of fleas upon arrival and reserve the right not to board them in order to protect the other cats in our care.

What is Cat Flu?

'Cat Flu' is a general term used to describe a common set of symptoms of the upper respiratory tract. Some of these symptoms include sneezing, nasal discharge, loss of appetite and eye discharge. Cat flu is caused by several pathogens, such as Feline herpes virus (FHV), feline calicivirus (FCV), Feline Reovirus, Bordetella Bronchiseptica & Feline Chlamydophila.

Cat flu can be spread via direct contact such as from a sick or carrier cat via eye, nasal & mouth discharge. It can also spread via indirect contact such as from contaminated food bowls, bedding etc. All bowls and bedding provided are treated with disinfectant before use to minimise any risk. To give your cat protection against cat flu a regular vaccination is required. All boarders coming to stay with us must have had their latest vaccinations.

Vaccination will provide effective protection in the majority of animals but there is no 100% guarantee. All possible hygiene, health and safety procedures are carried out here at NAO Catteries. Please contact your local veterinary clinic for further information.
